Appeal for information following incident

Officers received a report that at around 2.35pm, a 12-year-old boy was standing near the junction of Hall Lane and Alscot Close, when a man in a navy blue 5 series BMW got out of his car and approached him. The boy ran away and reported the incident.

The man is described as mixed race, around 30 years old, with black mid-length dreadlocks and a Liverpool accent.

Detective Inspector Catherine Walsh said: “The boy did exactly the right thing in running away and reporting this incident as soon as possible.

“Incidents such as this are rare but we take them extremely seriously – CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing in the local area and I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident, recognises the description of the man or the vehicle or has any dashcam or CCTV footage to please contact us.
