Officers were called to Stanley Road, Bootle this evening (15th March) following reports that a bank had been robbed.

The incident is reported to have happened at around 7.40pm when officers received reports that a car, described as a silver Mazda saloon, had been seen being driven into the Santander Bank on Stanley Road.

The offenders managed to gain access to the bank by forcing the doors before making off in the car with a cash box.

The car is believed to have travelled towards Stanley Road in the direction of the city centre, then turning right along Merton Grove, in front of the Gala Bingo Hall. Following this, at around 9pm, a car believed to be involved in the incident was located on Eldon Place. However the offenders are currently outstanding.

Officers are continuing their investigations by undertaking CCTV, forensic and house to house enquiries but are asking anyone that witnessed the incident to contact @MerPolCC or call 101 quoting log 895 of 15/3/19 - any information you have, no matter how small, could lead us to the individuals responsible for this crime.
