Family pay tribute to 62 year old

The family of a man who sadly passed away last month following an incident in the River Mersey have today paid tribute to him: “Ian was an intelligent, conscientious family man, with a wicked sense of humour.

"He will be greatly missed by all his friends and family, especially his wife of 37 years, their two children, and his mother.

"Ian began his career with Ocean Fleets Ltd, and travelled the world with them. He then worked as a marine engineer on the River Mersey, where he remained loyal to the same company for 35 years.

"Ian loved motorbikes and classic cars. He had a “Bucket List” of foreign travel plans for his retirement, including trips to New Zealand, Route 66 (by motorbike of course!), and the whole British Superbike season. Plans sadly never to be fulfilled.

"Ian’s family would like to thank his crew and the emergency services who, in such dreadful weather conditions, tried their best to save him on the night.

"We would also like to thank his employers, colleagues and friends for their love, support, and respect during this difficult time.”
