On 6 June it was reported a white Mini One Clubman car had been stolen from a driveway on Walton Village after a burglary in which an electric scooter, iPhone and iPad were also taken.

The car came to the attention of patrols in the Barlows Lane area of Fazakerley at around 6.30pm on Saturday (8 June), and the Dog Section were called to assist.

Police Dog Chico tracked a scent to a property nearby and the suspect was located inside.

A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of obstructing a person assisting a constable in the execution of his duty, receiving stolen goods and theft of a motor vehicle. He has been bailed.

Detective Inspector Paul Speight said: "Operation Castle, the force’s ongoing response to burglary, will continue to pursue and put before the courts anyone suspected of being involved in burglary offences within our communities.

“We will use all resources available to us – including PD Chico and his Police Dog colleagues – to find and bring to justice anyone suspected of being involved in burglary.

"If you see or hear anyone acting suspiciously close to homes or businesses, let us know and we will work alongside our partners in finding those responsible."
